Crash on 78 Lands Driver in Hospital

Fire fighters extracted driver trapped after early morning accident.

An early morning crash on Route 78 between a tractor-trailer and a car sent a driver to the hospital.

At 12:41 a.m., Springfield fire fighters responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a driver trapped inside a car. Upon arrival, they found that a car and a tractor-trailer had crashed on 78 west in Springfield, near the split between 78 and 24.

Springfield fire fighters reportedly found a driver trapped inside the passenger vehicle. Using rescue tools, fire fighters opened the driver’s side door and extracted the victim from the car.

Members of the Springfield First Aid Squad transported the driver, who was reportedly in stable condition, to Morristown hospital. Summit and Millburn Fire Departments also assisted in the response.
