Stop & Shop Traffic Hearing Set for End of January

The hearing on the proposed Stop and Shop on the border of Millburn and Springfield originally scheduled for Dec. 17 has been set for the Jan. 28 Zoning Board Meeting.
According to the Millburn-Short Hills organization Residents for Traffic Safety, the Zoning Board's traffic consultant will question Stop and Shop's traffic expert.

How is it that this has been going on for years, but somehow an apartment complex, a TD Bank/CVS and now a Walgreens have been allowed to be built on the northeast end of Springfield in a relatively short amount of time?

To the best of my understanding, the fault does not really lie with Springfield. Millburn has been holding this up for years because of an entrance/exit proposed on a small strip of land on Millburn Ave. in Millburn.

I would welcome a new grocery store in the area as long as they have ample parking. The Shoprite in Summit parking lot on Morris Ave. is a nightmare.

How many traffic studies can there possibly be done for this SuperMarket? We could use a modem new grocery store in the area to compete with Shop Rite. Competition and choice is a great thing. Think about how much lost tax revenue resulted by stalling this for nearly 20 years

Modern being the key word here. The Shop Rite in Millburn is in a time warp and the one on Morris ave. has a parking lot the size of someone's driveway and I suppose Millburn township is happier with a vacant building rather than having that area thrive with a nice modern store. I say build the Stop and Shop in such a way where it comes within inches of bordering Millburn just to piss off the snobs in that area.
