Springfield Employee Recognition: Michael Tennaro
Recreation Department director honored for community outreach and renovation of facilities.
Eight Springfield Employees were recognized for their service to the Township at a morning “Mugging event” this week.
Township Administrator Anthony Cancro gave eight employees with superlative service records mugs in recognition of their on-the-job achievements. Before presenting the mugs, provided by Investor’s Savings Bank, Cancro spotlighted the how each employee was an asset to the Township, and thanked them each for “making a difference.”
Michael Tennaro's name should be familiar to Springfield residents. The head of the recreation department spearheads beloved programs for township seniors, youth and adults. This year, Tennero completed a complete revamping of the township’s parks and playgrounds, bringing the facilities up to ADA compliance and state and federal standards. In addition, Cancro noted that Tennaro'sdepartment has ventured boldly into social media to find new ways to inform the public about recreation activities.
“In my opinion, he totally reinvented his department—which is not an easy task,” Cancro said.
