Springfield Schools State Aid Increases Top $1.1 million

Increase for district whose aid had been cut entirely in 2010-11 budget.

The state aid to has been increased by just more than $325,000 from the previous year according to a statement from New Jersey’s Department of Education.

With the added $325,148, Springfield will receive a total of $1,107,266 in state aid for the 2012-2013 school year.

Springfield was one of several school districts to have . The increases in funding levels do not bring the district back to the nearly $1.5 million in state aid it received in the 2009-2010 school year.

Increases were seen in all categories funded by the state. School Choice Aid, which doubled from $124,400 in 2011 to $256,196 in 2012-2013. The school choice aid is allotted for students attending out-of-district schools.

Springfield is slated to receive $33,606
for security aid, a category for which the district had not previously received any funds.

Aid for special education programs increased from $657,718 to $753,009.
