Springfield Week in Review

A look back at the notable goings on in the township in recent days.

 

In a development years in the making, Springfield broke ground on the turf field athletic complex outside of Dayton High School this week. Officials, students and residents gathered on Friday, Sept. 7 to ceremonially mark the start of construction on the field. 

This November, Springfield residents can decide if they feel the township needs a new form of government. The election ballot will include a question asking whether Springfield should assemble a five members to study Springfield’s form of government and make recommendations on the government’s future. 

The Springfield Fire Department welcomed three new members to its ranks this month, Kevin Ruck, Peter Peros and Christopher Tutela-Res. The new hires bring the Fire department’s headcount up to 21, including Chief James Sanford and Deputy Chief Carlo Palumbo. 

A year after Tropical Storm Irene tore through their neighborhood, Alvin Terrace residents gathered for a block party to celebrate how far along the community had come.
