Bargain-hunters, start your engines.
On Saturday, Oct. 13, Springfield will host the first town-wide garage sale.
Springfield residents looking to offload their stuff are encouraged to register their garage sale permit at the Springfield Municipal Building to be included on a listing of participants. Township officials have waived the one-day fee permit in lieu of a donation to local charity Springfield H.O.P.E.
Residents can bring their unsold items to the town-wide flea market at the Springfield Patriot Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival on Sunday, October 14th. Register for a table at www.springfieldpatriot.com
Bargain hunters can obtain a list and map of registered garage sales at the Township website.

Exactly. Would have liked to participate, if we had only known.

A town-wide garage sale is a great idea, but a little advance notice would have been nice. I know at least three people who would have been interested. It would also have been a good idea to have it in September, when the weather is warmer.

I was planning my garage sale for next weekend when I got the call about this weekends town-wide sale. Needless to say I decided to do it this weekend but they did not give anyone enough time to catch ad space in the newspapers or promote the sale in any way. I'm putting out signs and hope officials (police) leave them alone for the weekend.
