Post-Sandy Power Restoration Information Bulletin

As of November 4, 2012 at 6:30 p.m., 62% of Springfield Jersey Central Power & Light customers are still affected by power outages and approximately 2,797 have been restored.

The large and varied damage makes an orderly restoration difficult and work in particular areas does not appear to be based on any priority or location.  No area is intentionally being neglected or preferred – utilities are first working on larger power distribution infrastructure where more damage was sustained to restore as much electricity to the largest pockets of customers before working on more local infrastructure.

The Township does not serve the electricity but as advocates for the residents and businesses, we are exhausting all options.  The restoration process is solely up to JCP&L - they dispatch crews. We've provided them lists with downed lines, poles and trees and we've given the priority lists for government buildings and school.

I have made repeated persistent requests for more location-specific information but it will not be provided by the utility until tomorrow.

The most recent information provided Jersey Central Power & Light Restoration Estimates for NJ Towns – Springfield (http://zszs.us/RzZXHQ):

Currently Out – 5126

Customers Served – 7413

% of Customers Out of Service - 69%

Estimated Customers Restored On

November 4 - 452 (9%)

November 5 - 2562 (50%)

November 6 - 804 (16%)

November 7 - 398 (8%)

November 8 - 307 (6%)

November 9 - 171 (3%)

November 10 - 114 (2%)

If the report is correct, all affected Jersey Central Power & Light Springfield customers should be restored end of November 10th.

In order to make sure all outages are responded to, please continue to individual report power interruptions to JCP&L (1-888-LIGHTSS).

As a public service, I created http://411.shehady.us to provide information, updates and resources pertaining to the most recent storm " Sandy".
