'A Matter of Balance' Offered to Springfield Seniors

Madison Health Department is sponsoring classes in July and August.

Older adults with concerns about falling can attend the Madison Health Department's 'A Matter of Balance' classes in July and August, according to Springfield Township's website.

An award-winning program, 'A Matter of Balance' classes consist of eight two-hour sessions and are facilitated by trained, volunteer peer coaches. Classes, held at 15 Chateau Thierry Avenue in Madison, will begin at 10 a.m. on July 11 and run through August 29.

The program focuses on practical strategies to manage falls.

According to the Township's site, you will learn to:

  • view falls as controllable

  • set goals for increasing activity

  • make changes to reduce fall risks at home

  • exercise to increase strength and balance

    The program is recommended to the following:

    • anyone concerned about falls

    • anyone interested in improving

      balance, flexibility and strength

    • anyone who has fallen in the past

    • anyone who has restricted activities because of falling concerns
