Light up New Year's Eve With the Springfield Luminary Fund

Charitable effort benefits the Jonathan Dayton Marching Band and the Senior Citizens at Sarah Bailey

Springfield residents are looking to light up the township on New Year's Eve.

The group is selling luminaries—paper bags weighted with sand and filled with candles—at $2 a pop. Buyers are encouraged to buy in bulk, and line up the bags in front of their homes to create a chain of glowing lights throughout Springfield on Dec. 31.

The Springfield Luminary Fund is collecting donations now.

The proceeds from the bag sales, and from the larger donations the Fund solicits from businesses, has been donated to organizations including Springfield’s Volunteer First Aid Squad, Springfield Turf Foundation and theJonathan Dayton High School Baseball and Softball Programs.

Orders can be placed via email to madzikowski@verizon.net or cdzikowski@verizon.net. They ask that the messages include name, address, phone, and email with the amount that they wish to purchase. Or mail a check written out to Springfield Luminary to 63 Garden Oval, Springfield, NJ 07081. The organizers also suggest simply leaving a check in the mailbox so they can pick it up when they drop off the order on Saturday.
