The group currently has 95 members and is looking forward to hosting its first dad's night out event at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at Moonshine Modern Supper Club, owned by Springfield dad, Victor Delapa.
Member Marc Krauss explained that to attend, dads aren't required to be members of the Facebook page. All are welcome.
Krauss said the group, similar to the Springfield Moms group, has been a great way for dads to support one another professionally and listed the following as guidelines for joining the group:
Definition of a Springfield Dad to belong to this page: Dad - Must be a father, age of children doesn't matter.
Springfield - you reside, work, or own a business in Springfield.
Suggestions of what to post:
1. Promote your business or services - support local business/business owners. Keep it in the Springfield Community Family even if your business is outside of Springfield. 2. Ask questions on anything you need an answer to. Doesn't have to be related to Springfield. 3. Share anything that isn't offensive. 4. Post events of interest to you. Others might share the same interests. 5. No Politics - We are neighbors and fellow Springfield Dads above all else. 6. Sports - may the best team win. No sore losers.
"Other events posted are reminders - about the Home Depot Kids Workshop, JDHS team game reminders. Questions that come are usually regarding home services, especially for newer residents. The longtime residents make recommendations such as plumber or electrician, usually local Springfielders," Krauss explained.
