— On Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., the Rahway Girl Scouts will host a “Girl Scouts USA Centennial Celebration & Reunion” honoring the national organization’s 100th anniversary.  The celebration will take place at the historic Merchants and Drovers Tavern Museum widely known as “The Girl Scout House”, located at 1632 St. Georges Avenue, Rahway. — Think D'sign Print is hosting a T-shirt D'sign Contest.  The idea behind this contest is to showcase and feature the young artistic talent here in and around the Cranford area. All contest entries must be emailed to contest@thinkdesignprint.com on or before July 31, 2012.  Voting will takeplce August 31, 2012 on Facebook.com/TDPNJ and will be chosen by the public. The D'sign with the most "likes" will be the winner. There are prizes awarded to the winners, including having their (and selected) d'signs sold on our web store and brick and mortar location. — Clark's Boy Scout Troop 145 invites the public to join them on Saturday, June 30, 2012 (Rain Date: July 1, 2012) at ALJ High School, 365 Westfield Avenue, Clark, for their 2nd Annual Cars, Trucks and Motorcycles Show.  The fundraiser will be held from 9:30am-4:30pm.  This year 300 vehicles are expected.  There will be dash plaques to the first 100 entries.  Three trophies for all classes will also be awarded.  The entry fee is $15.00 if paid before June 18, 2012 or $18.00 on the day of the show.  Vendor spots are available at $25.00 per spot. — The West Orange Film Festival is celebrating the West Orange 150th Anniversary.  This event will take place today at 6:30 p.m. in the West Orange HS auditorium, Pleasant Valley Way, West Orange. They will be showing Edison the Man, starring Spenser Tracy. Tracy himself came to West Orange for the 1940 premiere of this film. It shows Thomas Edison's struggle to bring electric light to lower Manhattan just a few years before he moves to West Orange where he invents the movies. This film was made in 1940 and is 107 minutes long. West Orange, Saturday, 6:30 p.m., Free

— The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders is pleased to announce that Watchung Stable and Mosaico Restaurant are cooperating again to offer “Date Night at Watchung Stable” on two Sundays, July 1 and August 12, at 2:45 p.m. in Mountainside.  “Couples, ages 18 and older, are invited to go out on a date in a new and exciting way – on horseback,” said Freeholder Chairman Al Mirabella.  “You’ll visit Lake Surprise and meander through the woods and fields to discover the wealth of wildlife active in the picturesque Watchung Reservation.”  Participants must arrive at Watchung Stable by 2:45 p.m. to sign in.  The rides, which last approximately one hour, will leave at 3:00 p.m.  After the ride, couples may want to head over to Mosaico Restaurant for a Northern Italian dinner since each couple will receive a $20 gift certificate, courtesy of Mosaico.
