Artwork by Kerrie Ann Wandlass - Springfield Library

The Springfield Public Library is hosting artwork by Kerrie Ann Wandlass.  This exhibition will be on display at the Donald B. Palmer Museum from August 29, 2011 until October 6, 2011.  A resident of Cranford, Ms. Wandlass does most of her creative work in acrylic and oil painting and computer graphics.  While having numerous exhibitions in and around the area, she has worked as an accessories designer in New York for over 25 years and is a member of the Contemporary Art Group in central New Jersey.

Ms. Wandlass was influenced by Impressionists such as Cezanne and Prendergast, and says “my interest lies in shape, color and outline, rather than the effects of light and shadow on an object.  In addition, and also influenced by these painters, there is usually a dark, bold outline continuing throughout my pieces, remnants from the initial brush drawing, or additions later to enhance the relationships and connectivity between the forms.  My work strives to compel the viewer to notice what often goes unnoticed in our fast-paced society and to acknowledge the serenity that can be found in the rustic, worn, and non-perfect things in our immediate surroundings in contrast to what we commonly deem beautiful or picturesque.”

The Donald B. Palmer Museum is located in the Springfield Free Public Library, 66 Mountain Avenue, Springfield.  Hours of the exhibit are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10 A.M. to 8:30 P.M., and Tuesday and Friday from 10 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Saturday hours are from 10:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M.  The Museum is closed on Sunday during September, and open from 1:00 P.M. until 4:30 P.M. starting October 2.  For information call (973) 376-4930.  All are welcome.
