Issues 2011 Lecture Series - David Henry Hwang, Kean University

Premiere Stages and the Kean University Lecture Series are excited to invite you to a day of events featuring the Tony® Award-Winning Playwright and Screenwriter David Henry Hwang!

Write What You (Don't) Know

As part of the Kean University Issues 2011 Lecture Series, playwright David Henry Hwang will discuss his works, including the Tony Award-winning M. Butterfly, his recent Pulitzer finalist, Yellow Face, and the newly premiered Chinglish -- sharing his writing process and explaining how the artist creates art, but art recreates the artist.

"Hwang is a true original. A native of Los Angeles, born to immigrant parents, he has one foot on each side of the cultural divide...By at once bringing West and East into conflict and unity, this playwright has found the perfect way to dramatize both the pain and humor of the immigrant experience." -- Frank Rich, New York Times

The lecture will take place on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 12:15pm in the Wilkins Theatre and will be followed by a brief reception with the artist.
