Local Artist Mary Kooi at Parklane Photo

On October 1, 2011 at Parklane Photo in Chatham, NJ, local artist Mary Kooi opened her exhibit of 26 of her most recent landscape oil paintings.  The paintings depict locations such as Monhegan Island, Maine, Maryland and the Cape as well as small painting of the Summit Diner.  The paintings are thematically linked by the interplay between light and the environment.  The show was well received by all guests and will be on display at Parklane Photo until November 11, 2011.  Parklane is located at 13 Watchung Avenue, Chatham and gallery hours are Monday - Friday from 10:00am - 5:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00am - 2:00pm.  While this is a non-profit exhibit, the paintings are available for sale.  Also available are Holiday Greeting Cards featuring an additional landscape.  If interested, please contact the artist at mkooi@juno.com.

Mary proudly hails from the Chicago area, and happily transplanted to Summit 11 years ago.  Mary has been a student of art most of her life, including minoring in Art at St. Joseph's College in Indiana then earning a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago in Textiles.  Mary continues her self enrichment under the wonderful instruction of Valeri Larko at the Visual Art Center of New Jersey in Summit.
