Jazz Nights Will Be Back Next Summer

Series could increase to four to five weeks next season.

Building on the success of this season's jazz nights, the outdoor performances will continue next summer.

"The purpose is to have people come out and support local businesses," said Mike Scalera, chair of the Springfield Business Improvement District, which sponsored the series. "We had three jazz bands playing (on the same evening). It was great."

Scalera added that next year he anticipates increasing the series to run for possibly four to five weeks. This season, 12 jazz bands were scheduled to be featured at different locations in the Township on three separate evenings; one was rained out.

"It went very well and it's a great way to get people to support local businesses," he said.
