New Jersey American Water Warns Customers of Problems at the Tap

Water company says crews are working to restore water service to the impacted areas.

In a statement released late this afternoon, American Water said that after Hurricane Irene, customers in West Orange, Millburn, Maplewood, Irvington, and Springfield may experience being without water or low water pressure.

They said the lack of water was caused by flooding at their Canoe Brook Water Treatment Plant, which impacted water supply for customers several municipalities in Essex and Union Counties.  New Jersey American Water said their crews are working to restore water service to the impacted areas.

“If you have water, please use water for essential needs only while we work to restore critical services,” Steve Tambini, vice president for operations said in a press release.
