Springfield Restaurants Brave Storm

Bagel Stores Closing Early; Sofia's promises to be open.

Early on Wednesday, Feb. 10, amid the biggest snow storm of the season, Bagel Supreme's parking lot was crowded with cars coming and going.  The sleepy and hungry stocked up on at least two days worth of bagels, spreads and lox.

They will be closing at 1 p.m. today, they said in a call at about 8:30 this morning.

"My kids are home today, and nothing says snow day like bagels," one Springfield resident said.

Bagel Chateau on Mountain Avenue is feeling the same way. "We're going to have to monitor the snow fall, but we will be open until at least the early afternoon," noted the manager.

Looking for a lush Italian lunch? On Tuesday, Rick Pavoni, the owner of Sofia's told Patch the new Morris Ave. eatery "absolutely" would be open today. As for aromatic coffee and tasty Cuban sandwiches, well, you may be out of luck. Latin Quarter owner Rafael Corredor told Patch he'd have to see how badly the snow falls before he would know if he'd open.

Tom's Pizzeria is ready for a busy afternoon. They are prepping extra dough and have another driver on standby. They don't plan on closing early, in hopes of many residents ordering delivery. Give them a call at (973) 258-9144
