Five Things you Need to Know Today: Sept. 12

Health announcements, farmers market and more...

  1. Today, Springfield's  opens for the season. From 12 to 6 p.m. every Monday afternoon, vendors will offer fresh produce and more. Today, the location changes to Ruby Field, where the weekly market will stay for the rest of the season.
  2. The library hosts the first session of their job readiness program . Non-computer users can gain a basic understanding of the PC component and operations in Microsoft Windows.
  3. U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance's district offices in Westfield and Flemington are accepting food, clothing, household cleaning supplies and other items to assist flood victims in Union, Hunterdon, Middlesex and Somerset counties. .
  4. The regional health board has posted the month's schedule for flu shots. The board provides inoculations in Springfield on Sept. 29; full schedule on the official township site
  5. Springfield's Township Committee resumes its regular weekly meeting schedule tomorrow night at 7:30 at town hall.
