  1. New Jersey American Water has lifted the boil water advisory for Springfield. While the water has been deemed safe to drink, the utility company still urges residents to use it sparingly to avoid overloading the system.
  2. As of 6 a.m. today, Jersey Central Power & Light reports that 589 Springfield customers are without power, down from over 1,900 at the height of the emergency.
  3. Springfield Township Committee member Jerry Fernandez has organized a briefing for victims of Hurricane Irene today from 4-7 p.m. at the Sarah Bailey Center.
  4. Springfield will hold a special town-wide bulk garbage pick-up on Saturday, Sept. 3 and Friday, Sept. 9.
  5. The township government is waiving building permit fees for post storm repairs.
