Howling Winds Blow Through Town Over Weekend

Winds buffeted town over weekend.

Everyone who ventured outdoors this weekend had one thing in common: they were blown away by the winds.

Strong winds and bitter-cold temperatures are expected to continue through Sunday evening.  The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory, calling for a northwest wind between 25 and 35 miles per hour and gusts as high as 50 miles per hour. The wind advisory was cancelled shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The strongest winds were on Sunday morning, with the high temperature in Springfield near 26 degrees.  When factoring in the wind, it may feel as cold as five degrees below zero.
