Letter to the Editor: Thanks from the Organizers of Sprint for Springfield Schools 5K
Community credited for support and lists race winners.
Dear Springfield Community,
On behalf of the Springfield Education Foundation, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your support for the Second Annual Sprint for Springfield Schools 5K Race/Walk. We had over 400 participants at the race including more than 75 children for the Fun Run. To date, we have raised over $13,000 for the Springfield Schools which will be used for teacher grants and student scholarships.
The Sprint for Springfield Schools 5K Race/Walk was truly a community effort and one that we would like to continue for many years to come. This event could not have been possible without the input and support from so many people and organizations. We would like to give a tremendous thank you to the Springfield Police Department, Auxiliary Police Squad, First Aid Squad and Township Committee for working with us on the route and for their onsite presence. We would also like to thank the Springfield School District for the use of the facilities at Jonathan Dayton High School, the school district crossing guards for assisting in traffic flow and the entire community for cheering our runners on as they started and finished the race. Dayton Senior Alex Golden should also be commended for her singing of the National Anthem.
