The story about the YMCA's continues to gather comments following the announcement that the YMCA is . 

Some facts have come to light on the story, and some clarification seems necessary. Representatives of the have said that they have left because of increased competition. Springfield officials have said that was the gym's most significant competition.

After the Echo Plaza gym opened and offered heavily discounted rates, officials said, the Y's fitness memberships dipped by 75-80 percent.

The Y will continue to have a presence at the community center, albeit a greatly reduced one. As they announced last week, the Y's childcare services and after-school programs will remain at Chisholm.

Whereas the Y formerly paid $12,000 a month for using most of the building, they will now pay $3,000 to use a couple of rooms.
