Myfoxnycom: Springfield Celebrates The Simpsons

To celebrate the long-running animated show, Fox news took a trip to a real Springfield.

One of the running gags on the Simpsons is that the state the show takes place in is never named. We know that America's favorite three-fingered, yellow-hued family live in Springfield, but because there are Springfields in Ohio, Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri and more (New Jersey actually has two Springfields), knowing the town's name doesn't narrow down the region at all.

In celebrating the show's 30th anniversary Fox television's Good Day New York  advantage of the geographic ambiguity to shoot a segment in Springfield, N.J. A number of town officials and residents got in on the action; Deputy Township Clerk Linda Donnelly sported a Marge Simpson-esque blue wig and Deputy Mayor Bart Fraenkel was featured with his wife Lisa (Bart and Lisa—get it?) alongside First Aid Squad team member Apu Mullick (again, note the first name).
