People trickled into Dangler Funeral Home during the first hour of the wake at which Mazariego was laid out in a open-casket. Residents paying their respects included several employees at Doria'sPizzeria and Pasta where Mazariego stopped for a slice of pizza last Saturday night, and several members of common council including Steve Murphy and Tom Getzendanner. In addition, Mayor Jordan Glatt also paid his respects.

Many of the residents paying their respects commented upon exiting about how sad the incident is. Mazariego's death is the first non-domestic homicide in Summit in at least 20 years.
