Over a hundred thousand Jersey Central Power and Light customers across northern New Jersey were without power due to Hurricane Irene on Sunday. JCP&L's site reports that over 7000 Union County homes are without power today.

Morano said the outages have been caused by utility polls falling, along with trees and tree limbs falling on to power lines, along with equipment damage caused by the flooding.

Morano said that it would take the power company several days to restore power across the region.
