Springfield parked a fire engine by Town Hall with care, In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The did nothing to dampen Springfield's holiday spirits.

Once again, Springfield’s tree lighting ceremony was a success, with families turning out en masse for the holiday celebration.

The Thursday night festivities started with Springfield’s Girl Scouts singing Christmas and tother seasonal songs to the dozens of families gathered for the tree lighting.

Santa appeared on the roof of  shortly after the Township’s tree was lit. Despite the famous North pole resident’s advanced age, he vaulted down the Springfield fire engine ladder at top speed. Once on the ground, Santa sprinted to his chair where he greeted a long line of children anxious to tell him what they wanted for Christmas.
