Rocking the House For Carly Pfeiffer

The Crossroads in Garwood was packed Thursday night as people came together for a night of comedy and music to benefit the Carly Pfeiffer Memorial Fund.

The event was held in memory of Jim Pfeiffer, the Westfield firefighter and Springfield resident who died in August following a freak accident while off-duty at his Mountainside home. Following his death, the FMBA formed a fund to raise money for the education of his only child, Carly.

The comedy and music night was organized by teachers at Roosevelt Intermediate School, where Pfeiffer's mother, June, is a paraprofessional. In addition to comedians recruited by RIS speech teacher Kim Jonny, a group of RIS teachers organzed by music teacher James Doyle took to the stage. The band consisted of Doyle, Spanish teacher Daisy Lemos, science teacher Stephanie Kwistowski, math teacher Liz Scheuerer and Peter Abazia, a friend of Doyle's.

The event was packed with attendees representing many segments of Pfeiffer's life from classmates from Cranford High School, to the fire department to friends to RIS teachers.
