Proceeds from the event will go to the Jewish National Fund’s Operation Carmel Renewal: From Black to Green initiative, which works to rehabilitate the Mount Carmel region in Israel devastated by last fall’s forest fires.  As the U.S. fundraising arm of the Friends of Israel Firefighters, they are raising funds to purchase fire trucks and replenish damaged protective gear and depleted firefighting supplies.

The community is encouraged to bring a chair and come out to watch the game, mingle with WPLJ personalities and cheer on the Temple’s TEAM TSS. Admission is $5 per person, with kids under five free.  The ‘PLJ Party Van will be packed with prizes for giveaway, plus there will be hot dogs for sale and ices from the newly-opened . The game's base sponsor is Garden State Orthodontics.

“We are so proud to have our kids put into practice what they are learning each week at Religious School—'Gemilut Chasidim' or 'acts of loving kindness,'" Temple Junior Youth Group Chair Alicia Serviss said in an email. "It teaches them that they should be thankful for all the things they have, and in turn, to help others who are less fortunate or who need to rebuild when disaster strikes. This softball game allows them to plan an exciting day for themselves, but also to provide much needed assistance to the area in Israel devastated by the Mount Carmel Fires.”
