A round-up of stories from Sept. 11

The events of September 11, 2001 had a personal impact on Springfield residents past and present. That day, Springfield residents were survivors, victims, witnesses and heroes. Collected below are some of their stories.

Springfield Township Committee member Rich Huber was in the World Trade Center that day and . The impact of the plane on the building was enough to knock him over. Huber said that out of the tower was orderly and that his fellow survivors were upbeat while in the building. The real chaos and terror started when they reached the ground.

The attack put New York into a panic. Emergency responders from agencies throughout the region were called in to assist. Springfield Firefighters and members of the volunteer First Aid Squad were among the first to respond to the call. While members of the FAS tried to help the injured returning to New Jersey, Springfield Firefighters .
