A look back at the notable Township goings on in recent days.

Trailing by two and three outs away from elimination in the Union County Tournament underdog did what they do best: fight. The Bulldogs put across seven runs in the top of the seventh on their way to a 7-2 upset victory over Governor Livingston in the quarterfinals of the Union County Tournament. In a classic pitchers duel, pounded the strike zone in an impressive display of command and outlasted the Governor Livingston team to pick up the win in a gritty complete game win.

At the most recent meeting, Springfield Environmental Committee Chair Denise DeVone . Springfield students designed magnets illustrating the value of recycling. For the , the winning designs were printed on car magnets. 

At Springfield Hadassah’s annual Holocaust remembrance meeting, told the crowd how luck and random acts of kindness helped her survive the Nazi atrocities that killed her family and millions of Jews. Her mother and five of Dorflaufer’s siblings, died in Auschwitz. The Nazis found Dorflaufer, then an infant named Paulete Kourssia, in the hospital. She only escaped her fate when a nurse made a scene, screaming that the small girl was her daughter.
