Star-Ledger: Union County Judge Says Wife of Springfield Doctor Doesn't Have to Testify in Sexual Assault Case

Despite end of marriage, judge upholds spousal testimony privilege.

The wife of a Springfield doctor accused of sexually assaulting an employee does not have to testify, a Union County judge ruled this week. The Newark Star-Ledger reports that while Jeanette Mauti may have concealed or tampered with evidence, and was no longer married to James Mauti at the time of the alleged assault, she was protected by spousal testimonial privilege.
