BENCHMARKS CIVICS PROJECT

The Springfield Free Public
Library is pleased to partner with the New Jersey State Bar Association to
offer the Benchmark Civics Project, a fun and informative discussion to take
place from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, January 15, in the library’s Donald B.
Palmer Museum.   The product of
collaboration between the State Bar Association and the New Jersey Judiciary,
the Benchmark Civics Project was developed to help foster a better public
understanding of civics and the essential role that the courts play in
maintaining a vibrant democracy.  Through
the Benchmarks Civics Project practicing attorneys are given the
opportunity  is to inform the public
about the way the courts work, what it means to be a citizen, and the
importance of an independent, fair and impartial justice system.  The discussion at the Springfield Free Public
Library  will be led by Mary Ann Mcfield,
an attorney with offices in both Elizabeth and Newton, New Jersey.
