"The Front Porch" and "The Art of Mary Kooi"

From January 7th to February 7th the
collection of original oil paintings of Rosalind Dorlen titled “The Front
Porch” ,  and Mary Kooi , “The Art of
Mary Kooi”  will be on display at the
Donald B. Palmer Museum in the Springfield Free Public Library.

Rosalind Dorlen presents a series of artworks that highlight her love
affair with front porches. “I have always found front porches absolutely
charming. They promise a sort of sweet serenity and simplicity that's hard to
find in busy modern life. These works reflect  my quest to evoke moods and feeling in images
that are symbolically significant  to
me”.

Dorlen’s  art has been exhibited
at various local and state juried shows and is in over 50 private collections.
She was the recipient of first place in Show
and also Oils in the Union County Art
Show. Most recently, her painting, The
Boathouse at Echo Lake
was on the cover of the American Psychologist,
the Journal of the American Psychological Association. Her work has been
shown at the Summit Bank, Overlook Medical Center, The Mountainside Library,
Rutgers University, New Jersey Center for Visual Arts and the Paper Mill
Playhouse.
