The Masterwork Chorus presents Mozart's Requiem and Songs of Rest

On Saturday evening, January 26, 2013 at 8 pm, Music Director Andrew Megill will lead The Masterwork Chorus and Orchestra in a performance of Mozart’s beloved choral masterpiece, Requiem, at the Dorothy Young Center for the Arts, Drew University, Madison, NJ.  The program also includes “songs of rest,” a cappella works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Frank Ticheli, C.H. H. Parry, and John Tavener that embrace the promise of eternal peace and a Beethoven Elegy (Opus 118) for voices and string quartet. Texts are drawn from poems by Christina Rossetti, Sara Teasdale, and Thomas Campion, while Tavener sets an Eastern Orthodox Funeral Hymn. Beethoven’s source is unknown.  Tickets are $36 (seniors), $40 (individual) and $75 (Golden Circle featuring special seating and a pre-concert champagne reception that begins at 7 pm), and are available at www.masterwork.org.
