Christmas Open House Cannon Ball House

The recently re-opened Historic Cannon Ball House will have a Christmas Open House on Sunday, Dec. 5, between 2 and 4 PM. The House, built in the mid-1700s, was occupied until the mid-twentieth century and has since been owned by the Springfield Historical Society. One of the rooms is a re-created 18th century kitchen done by students from the Florence Gaudineer School c.1970. There is also a room dedicated to Springfield's history, and a Military Room with artifacts from the Revolutionary War, particularly the June 23, 1780 Battle of Springfield (including the cannon ball which struck the House, giving it its name) and the Civil War. Christmas decorations will deck the House and refreshments will be served. Suggested donation is $2 for those aged 13 and up ($5 maximum per family). For information, please call 973-376- 4784.
