Food Drive to Allay Hunger

As part of a county-wide food drive, the library will hold a food drive from Dec. 1-18. The Community Food Bank of New Jersey is calling for food donations in order to store and supply food and grocery products to NJ charities. Individuals can bring in canned and non-perishable items, and high protein items. Preferred items include canned fish or meat, powdered milk and infant formulas, pasta, potatoes, rice, cheese, chili, stews, meaty soups, peanut butter, canned vegetables and fruit. Collections will be donated to institutions including soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, food banks, after school programs and senior centers to name a few.
