Springfield Gears Up for 'Trunk or Treat'

Local businesses and civic groups are invited to participate in this town-wide event.

Get your costumes ready! Springfield's annual Trunk or Treat will be held Sunday at Jonathan Dayton High School.

Children will have an opportunity to load up on sweet treats while checking out some cars decorated especially for Halloween. Once again, the annual event will be held in conjunction with the Recreation Department’s Halloween happenings and the Chamber of Commerce’s parade and costume contests, according to Sandy Louro, member of the Thelma L. Sandmeier PTA and chairperson of the 2013 Community Trunk or Treat.

Setup will begin at 11 a.m. and Trunk or Treating will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. A DJ will provide entertainment during the festivities.

Families are asked to pay $10 each in advance to participate and $15 at the door. All money raised at the event will benefit the Sandmeier PTA, enabling the organization to continue its mission of providing educational programs and enrichment opportunities for the students.

Local businesses and civic groups are invited to participate in this town-wide event. For a donation of $25 to the T.L. Sandmeier PTA, businesses and groups can set up booths/tables to distribute information, sell products, or promote their services to the hundreds of parents, children and students who will be in attendance. Candy donations are also accepted for those who are unable to attend the event.

To participate, or for more information, please call Sandy Louro at 201-310-3257 or e-mail trunkortreatsprgfld@gmail.com.
