Film Director Kevin Smith Deciding Whether To Call "ACTION!" On New Jersey Filmmakers' Charity Offer

"Red State" director Kevin Smith is considering becoming a "film reviewer for a day" and donate his $10,000 pay to the great non-profit organization, The Wayne Foundation.

I’ve written a couple blog posts on this site about a film/charity project I’ve been working on for a little over a year. I produced a couple films and wrote the soundtracks for a few movies that are all being donated to charity. The films were directed by a friend of mine, Chatham New Jersey resident Jim Riffel.

The first film we offered up for charitable purposes was a wild “midnight movie” kind of flick called, “Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son of the Bride of the Return of the Revenge of the Terror of the Attack of the Evil, Mutant, Hellbound, Flesh-Eating, Crawling, Alien, Zombified, Subhumanoid, Living Dead – Part 5.”  We took this movie and made a crazy offer to a parade of A-list celebrities: review the film and you can have $10,000 to donate to the charity of your choice.  Seems like a good deal for the celebrity and the chosen charity. So far though, “night…Part 5” has been turned down by Will Ferrell, Chris Rock, Tina Fey, Adam Sandler, Roseanne Barr, Eddie Murphy, Jack Black, Jim Carrey and a truckload of other heavy-hitters.

But there’s now a possibility that a celebrity  may review our soon to be cult classic. Kevin Smith is currently taking a serious look at the offer. Jim Riffel received a call from Jamie Walton, the President of the Wayne Foundation, a non-profit organization that was started by Ms. Walton and Kevin Smith. According to their website, the group’s “vision is for a world without child slavery.” The Wayne Foundation was named by Mr. Smith as an homage to Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky and Batman, also known by some as Bruce Wayne.

It turned out that Kevin Smith learned about our charitable $10,000 offer to review “Night of the Day of the Dawn…Part 5”online and is now deciding whether to give a “thumbs up” to the reviewing process.

I’ll keep everyone posted.
