Kevin Smith Still Deciding Whether to Accept $10,000 for His Wayne Foundation Charity

New Jersey native Kevin Smith ponders charitable offer of $10,000 to become a "film critic for a day."

I’m back with an update on the “Kevin Smith” situation.   In short, it’s been three months and the “Red State” director and “Comic Men” creator is still deciding on our charitable offer.  This is a bit strange but Hollywood, in general, is known for taking its time with the decision making process.  Some movies take years to come to the screen.  So right now we’re still waiting on New Jersey’s own, Kevin Smith.

Here’s a quick recap:  We’re going to give Kevin Smith $10,000 to donate to charity if he reviews a feature film we’ve made called “Night of the Day of the Dawn…Part 5.   Smith has expressed interest in the offer and would donate the money to his own charity, The Wayne Foundation.  The organization, founded by Jamie Walton and Kevin Smith (Smith is Vice President) was created to end human trafficking and child slavery.

The offer was made in October of 2011 and, though Kevin Smith originally contacted us through his publicist, he still has not made a final decision.  Chatham, New Jersey resident Jim Riffel, the director of “Night of the Day of the Dawn…Part 5” said he’s a bit confused.  “Jamie Walton, the President of The Wayne Foundation called me and it appeared Mr. Smith was very much into the idea of reviewing the movie and having $10,000 donated to his charity.  Since he’s the co-founder and Vice President of the organization I definitely thought the answer would have came already but it hasn’t.  I’m hoping he answers before December 21, 2012 because, as everyone knows, that’s the last day of Planet Earth. “

“Insectavora,” the star and hostess of “Night of the Day of the Dawn…Part 5,” also believes three months is a long time but feels confident that Kevin Smith will review the film.  “It’s $10,000!  That might not be a lot of cash for a super-multimillionaire but to us regular folk it’s a fortune!   Take a look around!  The economy is at an all time low and charities are hurting!  He’d have to be a complete loon to turn this down!”

I certainly agree.  We’re ready to donate $10,000 to the charity he started and he’s still thinking about it.  It seems like a “no-brainer.”  I’ll keep you posted.
