Citrin Cooperman Gives Back to Springfield Charities

Toys and coats donated to Toys for Tots and One Warm Coat

Accounting and business consulting firm Citrin Cooperman’s professionals and staff at its Springfield, N.J., office recently donated 118 toys and 44 coats to the local New Jersey chapters of Toys For Tots and One Warm Coat, respectively.

Citrin Cooperman conducted similar toy and coat drives in its White Plains, N.Y., Norwalk, Conn., Philadelphia and New York City offices, collecting and donating more than 650 toys, 300 coats and $6,600 to these two charities.

“The outpouring of generosity was only eclipsed by the energy and enthusiasm our professionals and staff in New Jersey brought to this effort,” said Joel Cooperman, Citrin Cooperman’s Managing Partner.  “Each of our offices gladly welcomed the opportunity to help give back to the communities in which they live and work.”

The effort, which began on Dec. 1, concluded on Dec. 16 with 308 coats, 662 toys and $6, 645 being delivered to the local offices for Toys For Tots and One Warm Coat.  The Toys for Tots Program, run by the U.S. Marines, collects new, unwrapped toys for distribution as Christmas gifts to needy children in communities where campaigns are conducted.  One Warm Coat assists in the donation of new and gently used coats, working with individuals, companies and organizations to collect and deliver coats to local agencies that distribute them free, to people in need.

The charitable effort was coordinated through the accounting firm’s “Citrin Cooperman Cares” committee, and established as a friendly competition between its five offices. The winning office – based on donations per person – is to receive a breakfast served by Cooperman, the managing partner.

Citrin Cooperman’s Norwalk, Conn., office ranked highest in “per capita giving” with an average of more than seven donations per person.

“Our partners and staff have a history and tradition of working with non-profit organizations throughout the years,” said Alex Serrano, co-managing partner of the Springfield, N.J., office.  “The friendly inter-office competition provided even more energy to the effort, with the ultimate winners being Toys For Tots and One Warm Coat, and the people they serve.”
