Mayor's Message Lacks Substance
Mayor Amlen's first mayors message is much to do about nothing.
Mayor Amlen's first "Message from the Mayor" in the Springfield Patriot lacks substance and addresses absolutely nothing of significance for the residents of Springfield. It's seems like the only thing the Springfield Democrats are capable of doing is providing civics lessons. I refer you to Committeewoman Bandrowski's Civics 101 article in the Patch recently. When should we expect to hear what his goals are for 2013? Is he going to hold a Martin Luther King Day observance? Does he plan on holding office hours?
Mayor Amlen never fails to miss an opportunity to inform the public of any substantial issue. He could of used this opportunity to talk about the merits of the change in garbage and recycling collection. He could of clarified for the public Mr. Barnett's SEC violations and why he deserves to remain on the township committee. He could explain why he and his cohorts hired inexperienced attorneys for township attorney and township prosecutor. He could explain why he voted no on the Charter Commission Study.
He starts off his message wanting to look at past issues and he only makes one reference to an issue that was last year's campaign rhetoric from Barnett and Bandrowski. The idea of what form of government our township should take going forward isn't an issue, it's a study, a Charter Study Commission. If he really wanted to look at past issues he could at least explain why he initially voted against the turf field, what he plans on doing about the basketball hoops or any number of other past issues. However, he gives us another civics lesson. I will leave the civics lessons to the school teachers.
