Saturday Emergency Preparedness Information Video Bulletin

Saturday Emergency Preparedness Information Video Bulletin from Springfield Mayor Ziad Andrew Shehady at the Springfield Office of Emergency Management.

Good Evening! This is Springfield Mayor Ziad Andrew Shehady at the Springfield Office of Emergency Management with an important video public safety announcement.

Current weather reports raise more serious concerns about flooding resulting from surges and river flow.

Evacuations may be necessary and will be likely for all residents living in low-lying and flood prone areas. Contact family or friends to make arrangements to relocate. The Chisholm Center has been designated a local shelter of last-resort that is tentatively scheduled to open Monday at 8 a.m. Cars can be moved to the Springfield Municipal Pool lot and the Church on Shunpike Road has been kind enough to allow use of their parking lot at your own risk,

Your officials have been actively engaged and meeting - rest assured all reasonable measures and preparations are underway.

Public Works crews will be working through the weekend and will be picking up leaves in critical, flood prone areas. Leaf collection will be targeted due to the high volume of work ahead of them. Please assist the effort by moving your leaves to your lawn and do not place new leaves in the street.

Visit the Township website at www.springfield-nj.us and my personal page 411.shehady.us for more frequent updates. In addition to land-line phones, register your cell phones and e-mail addresses on the Springfield Community-Stat Public Notification System through the Town website to ensure receipt of notifications in case of power outages.

More information is forthcoming. Be Prepared, Make An Emergency Kit, Stay Informed.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail to mayor@shehady.us or by telephone at 973-797-9423.
