COMMUNITY

-  The Springfield Farmers Market is still running until Oct. 31 every Monday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ruby Field off Caldwell Place.

-  It's that time of year when the Environmental Commission organizes one of my favorite Springfield events.  This Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1:30 p.m., the Houdaille Quarry will be open for a "Fall Foliage Walk."  If you can't make this one, you will have another chance on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1:30 p.m.  This is one of the most amazing attractions right in our own backyard.  Check out the Springfield Patch article here.

-  This Friday, October 21st at 7 p.m. at the Union County College Theater, the Township of Cranford is hosting a Regional Conference on the Rahway River Watershed to discuss the impact of Hurricane Irene and potential flood control solutions.

SCHOOLS

-  The Springfield Education Foundation is hard at work preparing for the Sprint for Springfield Schools 5K Run/Walk to be held on Sunday, October 30th.  Visit their website at www.springfieldeducationfoundation.com for more information and to register.  If you are willing to volunteer, they can use some help.  Contact them through their website.

-  The All for One Fund is organizing their annual Trunk-or-Treat Halloween Celebration for Sunday, October 30th at 2 p.m. in the Jonathan Dayton High School parking lot.  Families register for $10 in advance or $15 that day.

-  The Sandmeier School PTA is in their third week of Co-Ed Adult Volleyball.  Anyone (18+) can join the game at Sandmeier School's Gym every Thursday from 8-10 p.m. for $10 a session.

- The Jonathan Dayton High School PTSO & Project Graduation Committee are organizing their annual "Bulldog Basket Auction" to be held on Wednesday, November 16.  They are asking for donations of prize baskets, gift items, or gift certificates. For more information, read the letter here.

ELECTION 2011

-  The Annual Springfield Chapter of Hadassah and the Springfield Patriot Chamber of Commerce Candidates Morning Forum is scheduled for Thursday, October 27 at the Springfield Free Public Library at 11 a.m.  This event is open to the public and is an opportunity for voters to learn about the candidates running for Township Committee.  I am one of the candidates this year and I will be participating.
