PART TIME SPRINGFIELD FIRE DEPARTMENT and Bart.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the Springfield Deputy Chief living in Warren NJ, gets a take home, gas guzzling Dodge SUV as well. He makes well into the 6 figure range and we are paying for his gas too. Waste that Bart would say is costing our tax payers around $1.00 per day and is "OK." How may people today have take home vehicles? Also, another point I neglected to mention, our current Chief rear ended another vehicle while driving his child to school causing substantial damage to both vehicles, his fault. Why are we paying for this type of luxury that is costing us a fortune. He lives very close to the firehouse. We have so few fires that each vehicle should be left at the firehouse and used for official business only. Summit Police recently hired a couple of police officers at part-time positions, saving the city thousands per year in health benefits, pension and overtime costs. Each FF in our town costs between 15K to 20K for health benefits per year for a family. Add that up by 21 FF's and you begin to see the benefit of a part time dept.  I have family that live in this town on a fixed income, the waste that is allowed by our Mayor and town council is atrocious; My relatives they have lived here for many years, paid off their homes and are being priced out by our sky high taxes. Taxes that are approaching mortgage payment levels. Again, $2.5 million PLUS is a dollar a day? Really? To make such a statement is insulting to every hard working person and fixed income resident in this town.
