Bear Spotted in Springfield Tranquilized, Removed by Wildlife Authorities
Bruin had been seen roaming through Springfield early Tuesday.
A bear that was spotted in Springfield Tuesday morning has been tranquilized and removed from the area, according to the Springfield Police Department.
Officer Jon Rachel said state wildlife authorities were on the scene Tuesday afternoon and were able to tranquilize the bear, who had been spotted behind Kearny Federal Savings Bank on Caldwell Place.
The bear has been removed from the area, Rachel told Patch at 2 p.m. Tuesday, though he could not say where the animal was being taken.
According to a report by NJ.com, the bear, believed to be a cub, had been chased up a tree on Mountain Avenue before noon while officers were standing by awaiting assistance.
