A 54-year-old West Orange man has been charged with stealing approximately $180,000 from a 96-year-old Springfield woman, according to the Union County Prosecutor's Office.
An investigation led by the Special Prosecutions Unit discovered that, since February 2010, Denis Marvin Solis,, the principal of a local landscaping company, had been stealing from the elderly woman by having her write checks exceeding the value of work conducted by his company.
A prosecutor's office press release states that Solis allegedly had the victim pay for a project multiple times by saying she had not yet paid for it and even accepted checks for work his company never did.
His bail is set at $75,000.
