Fire Department to Host 6th Annual Open House

Open house includes a tour of the fire house, refreshments and the new Engine 4 will be on display.

Want to learn more about the Springfield Fire Department? Here's your chance. From noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, the Springfield Fire Department will host its 6th annual open house at Fire Headquarters.

The open house includes a tour of the fire house, refreshments and the new Engine 4 will be on display.

Children will have a chance to “Stop, Drop & Roll” and knock down wooden "flames" with a real fire hose.

'Prevent Kitchen Fires' is the message of this year's Fire Prevention Week, which begins Sunday and ends Saturday, Oct. 12. Tips on avoiding cooking fires can be found on the National Fire Protection Association's website.
