A visit from the Vice President of the United States caused significant delays for motorists early this evening.
At about 6:45 p.m. on Monday, March 19, Eastbound lanes on Route 78 were closed down between Springfield and Newark to accomodate the presidential motorcade. The road was cleared by 7:10 p.m., according to New Jersey state police.
A representative of the New Jersey state police confirmed that the V.I.P. visitor was Vice President Joe Biden, who was in New Jersey to attend a fundraiser for Senator Bob Menendez. President Obama is in Washington D.C. today according to the official White House schedule.
