New Brook Lane Fire in Springfield Under Control

Combination of fire department efforts, rain combats fire at home.

A fire at a home on New Brook Lane in Springfield was placed under control within minutes of the fire department arriving thanks to help from the heavy rain in the area, fire officials said.

The fire department responded to a call around 3:50 p.m. today that led them to the fire outside a house at 31 New Brook Ln. The fire began to spread into the attic of the house but before any structural damage could be done, firefighters, with aid from the rain, were able to put the blaze under control.

There were no injuries reported and no damage to the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
