Walton School Principal Susie Hung informed parents via the schools' listserv that Springfield police would visit the school today.
In her message, she said that police have been patrolling all township schools since Friday and that officers would be inside the school today. The police will be walking through the school to familiarize themselves with its layout.
"We certainly appreciate all of the efforts of the Springfield Police Department," Hung said in the note. "Please know that we will inform the students of our special visitors shortly before they arrive so they are not alarmed."
